Shopmobility

Based in the Marlowes Centre, Hemel Hempstead, this service hires out electric/manual wheelchairs and scooters to people with either a permanent or temporary mobility problem. This service gives users the independence to get out and about for shopping and other activities within the town centre.

Membership of the service is free and a small charge of £1.50 is made for each trip. Shopmobility also offers a long term loan service for manual wheelchairs for a mimimum donation of £10 per week or £2 per night. This service operates with a small team of paid staff and a number of dedicated volunteers, Shopmobility is always interested to hear from anyone who has some spare time to offer. The service is available Monday to Saturday, 9.30am to 5.00pm.

The first time you come to use the service, you will be asked to complete a simple registration form and provide some form of identity showing your name and address (a driving licence, utility bill or something similar). We will then select an appropriate vehicle for you and give you training in its use before you take it out.
