F.A.Q.

Where can I get a grant from?

A lot depends on how you are set up as an organisation and the work that you are doing.  Most funders specify the types of organisations that they will fund and the work that they are interested in supporting.  Our funding advice and support service can support you through this process, discuss your organisation needs and help you to identify appropriate sources of funding for your work.

Where do I start if I want to become a charity?

You will need to start by adopting a constitution for your group.  The constitution is effectively a set of rules for your organisation which specifies your aims and objectives and what the organisation can/cannot do.  You will also need to draw together a management committee for your group with individuals taking responsibility for chairing the meeting, acting as secretary and treasurer.   Through our organisation development support service we can help you develop a governing document that meets the needs of your group and advise you on the roles and responsibilities of a management committee.

Do I need to be a member to access Community Action Dacorum services?

Community Action Dacorum does give a limited amount of support to voluntary/community groups who are not in membership.  We encourage local groups to become members so that they can benefit from all of our services - subsidised training, discounts on all our events, use of our minibuses and regular updates via our e bulletin

Can anyone use your Community Wheels service and how much does it cost?
Hire of our minibuses is only open to voluntary/community groups who are members of Community Action Dacorum.  The charge for using one of our buses is £1 per mile with a minimum charge of 30 miles.
